What to do with Poles at Nationals?

Unread postby mjaubbs40 » Tue Feb 06, 2007 5:52 pm

I'm planning for our trip to NYC for the scholastic nationals and was wondering what people did with their poles once they got there. Can you keep them at the Armory? I'd like to avoid having to take them from the hotel/parking garage to the Armory all 3 days.

I guess I'm also going to check with the hotels as to storing them.

The hotel that I can get the best room rate (sister works there) charges for parking every time you leave the garage--in NYC parking is expensive and adds up fast (no family discount in that venue).

So what's everyone else doing?

Once you get the poles to the armory (a task in itself) they will let you store them in a garage opposite side of the runways. Good luck, its a fun meet but soo busy, make sure to get good directions!!
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph

Awesome--thanks. Do you need to make arrangements with the Armory ahead of time or could you just drop them off on Thursday night?

We have left ours there on Friday but I am not sure about Thursday. I assume you can though. Where are you staying?

Most likely the Westin, my sister works there--nice discount and says it's only about a 15 min drive to the armory.

The Armory staff will tell you where the poles can/will be stored. It's in a locked room.
I've also heard you might have to bring them in via the back door ramp rather then the circiular stairs in the front. You'll just have to ask when checking in.

We always bring them in the front but the back alley would be easier.

The meet director for nationals emailed and said that poles can be stored for free in a locked room at the armory. Still waiting to hear when poles can be brought in.
I would think that the armory would be open Thursday night--there's always something going on there, and that we can store poles then.

Just got email confirmation--the Armory will allow poles to be stored Thursday night.
