Hingst vaults 4.70m to break German record
Tuesday 16 January 2007
Carolin Hingst had a perfect start into the indoor season. The 26-year-old German pole vaulter broke the national record at a regional championship in Ludwigshafen on Sunday (14).

Hingst cleared 4.70m and improved the old record of Annika Becker by two centimetres. Becker, who had a bad accident in training close to three years ago, has not yet taken up pole vaulting again.

Hingst had had an indoor personal best of 4.65m from two years ago. Her outdoor mark is at 4.66m, also from the 2005 season. After a disappointing season last year she now hopes to be selected for the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham, which takes place at the beginning of March.
