A HS gave me a Maxima4 never used pole....15-7-150#9302940, which I PM'd ESSX tofind out if it is similair to thier ESSX poles because I knew that Bruce designed the Maxima....
They also gave me a cut Spirit pole.... it was originally a 14-150 and they or someone took 6" off each end so it is now a 13 footer....would anyone comment on what the rating is now?? did the sail piece move? It feel comfortable to me at a 4 left approach holding 12'..... any thoughts???

I think the relative position of the sail piece is the same if you cut an equal amount off the top and the bottom.

Taking a foot off the BOTTOM of the pole would increase the relative stiffness 20#.
As for the 6" off the top and 6" off the bottom pole, the bottom 6" makes the pole 10# more stiff relative to a 13"6" pole. The top 6" just means you can't grip as high on your imaginery 13'6".
