Clear your calendars!!!
Hey everyone. Just as the summer is coming to a close and you thought that all your summer pole vault meets were over. Think again. There will be a pole vault meet on August 12th at Zeapfel Stadium (Eisenhower High School) in Yakima at 10:00 a.m. The third annual Non-Beach Vault is tons of fun and a chance to increase your PR before the summer ends. Ike has a very nice facility and I encourage you to go. There are no age or height requirements so everyone is welcome. Message me if you have any other questions. I'll see you all on the 12th.

I know for cross country we are aloud to "condition" all the way until school starts. do you know if we can still be on the vault trainer, or even do drills and pop-ups? also, our school coach isn't out, doses the no-contact rule count for private coaches... I think just has an agreement ot use the facilities.
Is there a site I can just look up these rules??
thanks,
rachel

I am not sure what rules are online, but check out www.wiaa.com
The no contact rule does not apply to private coaches.
You can "condition" all year. Works out great for runners, not so great for vaulters, throwers, and hurdlers. You can't do anything pole vault specific with your school coach until school starts.

you could lose a season of eligibility. Really you can't do anything pole vault specific until track season. There are a lot of things that "conditioning" falls under (I have seen basketball and football practices run under this "conditioning" principle). But the strictest interpretation says that anything specific to your event is supposed to be off limits. I have only heard of one case where this was a problem in pole vault and it was because the coach was coaching his pole vaulters all winter. Anything you could do in the weight room to improve pole vault technique or on rings I would think could be considered "conditioning", but once you get a pole out I would be seriously careful about to make sure your coach is nowhere to be found.

Not with your school coach anyway. There is nothing stopping you from traveling on your own to a pole vault camp, a pole vault club, etc., in the off-season. Remember if you jump in any indoor meets, you cannot wear your school uniform.
