I briefly wondered why JS was going for 471 when her PR is 468, but then I checked last year's results. Isi won at 470 then missed three shots at 494 (see http://i5.tinypic.com/20l1duo.gif).

Stuczynski wins vault at 15-3
Special to The News
7/22/2006

Jen Stuczynski continues to take the international track and field world by storm. The pole vaulter from Fredonia won her second European meet in a row on Friday, jumping 15 feet, 3 inches at the 22nd International Vardinogiannis in Greece.
The field included three of the top women pole vaulters in the world. Tatyana Polnova, the 2005 Russian National Champion, was second at 14-11.

The jump was Stuczynski's career best outdoors. She cleared 14-9 on her third attempt, moved to 14-1 on her second and won it at 15-1 on her first jump.

"These German and Russian athletes are beyond anything I've ever seen," said Stuczynski's coach, Rick Suhr of Rochester. "I would have been happy with third or fourth [as] we were giving up a lot of experience. Nothing at the world class level is ever easy. It's such a battle."

Stuczynski's next meet is July 25 in Stockholm, Sweden.

In her first European competition July 17, Stuczynski broke the meet record at the 17th International Meeting in Lignana, Italy, as she cleared 14-10.
