Women's Pole Vault winner, Kellie Suttle

It was stellar (the competition), I was stoked. This is my first Indoor National Title. I knew it was going to be tough because we have some great vaulters here. I just wanted to come out and have fun because it's my last year competing.

Yep! Each year becomes more of a gamble to stay healthy. If I knew I could stay healthy through the next Olympic Trials I would do it in a heart beat, but it has taken me so long to get back from this last injury that I just out of "fight". I'm just gonna have a fun time and do the comps that I have wanted to do, go over seas one last time and call it.

Plus, my boyfriend doesn't live here and I want to go back to school and get my masters! It's been by far the coolest adventure yet and I can't wait to check out what else there is to do! Leave it to the youngsters who are more durable! ......................... I have a lot of snowboarding to do still!;)

That is so sad :crying: . I really enjoyed watching you vault at reno, but you should have a great time doing everything else you wanted to do, but didn't have the time, that is something I understand completely. Good luck at the world's  :D!!!

Schwartz competes in Moscow

She competed in Germany on Saturday. Tomorrow, she'll compete in Moscow.

Oh, the life of a world-class athlete.

As a member of the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Team, ex-Lake Forest High School star Jillian Schwartz will be aiming high in this weekend's World Championships in Moscow.

Ranked No. 9 in the world in the pole vault, the 26-year-old Duke University graduate, a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team in Athens, Greece, has fully recovered from a foot injury.

Schwartz, who trains with Bell Athletics in Jonesboro, Ark., is coming off a couple of solid efforts. On Feb. 27, she cleared 14-11 (455 meters) to take second in the National Championship at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston. She also cleared 14-11 at the Summit Meet in Reno in January.

Her personal record is 15-1 (4th place), which she set at the 2005 World Championships in Budapest.

Prior to the meet in Moscow, Schwartz performed in a shopping mall meet in Germany along with fellow American -- and Olympian -- Jeff Hartwig. Fans get a unique perspective in this meet as they are allowed to line up along the runway.

Schwartz's goal is to return to the Olympics in '08.
