They gave Chase credit for his 16' 7" jump shortly before his 17th birthday (May 9) and not 16' 8" that he jumped the day after his birthday. The 16' 7" (5.05m) jump was #2 on world list for 16 yr olds that year... #1 was 5.06m. Correct me if I am wrong but, Jacob's jump would have been a world junior record but his birthday was at the very end of the year. Or so I heard. So he may have an age group record, or maybe not????

IAAF only considers the year you were born not the month/day. Even if you don't turn 17 until December 31st, you are considered 17 for that entire year.
