looking for.....
Hi. I am located near Chicago, IL and am looking for some poles.
(I have a guy destroying a 12'6" 130 pacer and a 13' 125 sky holding down almost 1 and a half feet)
13' 135 sky (or a 13'6" 125)
13' 140 sky (or a 13'6" 130)
(I also have a guy on a 13'6" 140 and it is hard, and he is holding down 1'+ to get in...)
13' 140 sky
13' 145 sky
***I am looking for these poles or any near them...
***Brands are not vital, they are for h.s. guys, so sky is just easiest, but I am open to anything really.

Try looking at http://www.polepeddlers.com of your desired poles. There is always something for sale there

Thanks, however I am looking for some advice. I have one guy on a 13'6" 140, and he has to hold down almost 1'6"-2' in order to get in. However he is now on the low part of the pole. Any suggestions on a pole (maybe evenm for next year). He weighs 130. Runs fast and has an ok plant, it needs work, but would a different pole, perhaps a shorter but same weight work. He gets good bend, but no time as he holds low...jumps 10'6" only...
Thanks. I'd appreciate any advice.

A possible pole
I have a 13'6 150 UCS spirit pole. One of my vaulters used it for a little while but it became really weak for hi. He had to hold down to about 12'4 to make it work, even then it became to weak for him. He is 160 lbs so i am not surprised it became to weak. How much does your vaulter weigh? It might be a good pole for him, but not sure. Let me know a little bit about him. How high has he held before etc.

he is 5'9" 128 pounds. Runs fast, can not swing upside down, the hips are like weights...he holds 1'ish down and has held high, from 1' down to almost the top. he just squishes it. i have 14' 140 and 14' 145, he has tried but can't get in...it seems a 13'6" 135 would be best, but i am not sure. now it just bends and he is low (#1 problem) and he does not swing upside down or even close...he goes 10'6" every sibgle meet with the standards in to 16 inches.

The 13'6" that rlynn2 mentioned might be a good choice. However I would first study his take off for three things. First are his arms very tall and his top hand directly over his head as the pole tip slides toward the back of the box. Second, be sure the toe of his take off foot is not forward of a vertical line dropped from his top hand to the runway. And third (and likely to be a problem), does he drive up off the take off foot (similar to a long jump) or does he just run through and "sit on it"? When a vaulter drives up at take off, it takes a lot of "pressure" off the pole and facilitates good pole speed and penetration. I worry when I hear of vaulters that have their standards as close as is allowed (15.5"). We almost always practice with the standards at max depth (31.5")

First: yes they are however, and this is a problem i am trying to fix, the bottom arm resists too short of a time and as he is taking off of the ground his left arm is almost in/across his face. This is probably because of the long last step and not being tall right?
Second: it is a tad forward, but it is a stride step so a lot of energy is lost to the box
Third: the problem is his right knee drops and trail leg bends and curls up and he has nothing but 'sit' going on.
I hate having the standards closer than 20ish, however I am finding it really hard to get them to: not stride out (they aren't quickening steps) at the end which forces them to be a little under and not stay tall and not keep the trail leg and high driving knee...
This results in being sucked under and staying low and losing all of the energy they need to go into the pit. I do some drills to quicken up the last few steps and we do plants into the box and I hold them up and have them be tall with arms, and stay straight with hips and keep the lead toe directly below the top hand, etc. However it is not working as well as I hoped. It seems they are just running to the box...Sliding box will help a lot and I am building one this summer (we did towels but it is not the same). Season's almost over but they are young so I am looking to get them over this problem this summer.

I don't mean imply I know the right things to do, especially having not seen your vaulter, but I will offer this additional bit of advice. There could be some benefit, at least in the long term, by having him re-address the basics of vaulting by doing some stiff pole work. That can really force a person to work to have their steps be on, their arms fully extended and a strong drive up off the take off foot. This could be done from 1 left, then 2L, then 3L, adjusting the grip height and making sure there is enough strong take off to carry into the pit. It may help the vaulter regain control of these critical basic skills that are the foundation of any good jump.
Good luck

Thanks, sounds like a plan for the summer...i have another guy, jumping in the 12's but has a long last step and gets his bottom hand thrown back in his face since he isn't tall...its just hard to get that bottom hand/arm to not collapse so fast to his face with short approach as it doesn't bend from there. I'll let you know how it goes...
