yeh i weigh like 127 and am jumping on a VERY flexible 130 13'6" holding at the top line...is bending too much and taking away height. i def need a new pole. i think we are looking to get me a 14' 140/145 soon. i might even go with a 14'6". well see.

Don't worry about what other people think of you. Just cause you use a 150 pole, it doesn't take away from who you are. Go out there and have fun jumpin rather than worrying what you look like when u are jumping.

Impress your coach by jumping. Some girls at my school are attracted to our coach, so they freak out when he taps them into the pit. Just vault you crazy girls.

We are experiencing>>> Women having more sucess ordering poles over their body weights and using the power of the pole to get better heights!!!
We find that a women's center of mass is in the hips and a guys is in the stomach. While this little bit more length added to the vaulter pendulum seems to bend stiffer poles. While guys want to drive in and crush the pole to vault and stay within their weight ranges.

Just goes to show you that a longer pendulum in the swing of the vaulter can generate more energy than driving to the back of the box and crushing the pole!!!

Sorry to sound weird but the 'cuteness ' of your coach shouldn't matter. If you are using a pole that is way under your weight just because you don't want your coach to know what you weigh (or whatever) because you think he is cute and that he may think differently of you than that is the wrong motive...Safety first and having fun matters. Your coach's focus is on getting you better and keeping you safe.

the bigger or stiffer the pole, chances are you will go higher.

so if u wanna go higher dont be afraid to switch up poles.

but don't you wanna bend the hell out of the pole? won't that ultimately get you higher than a longer pole that's heavier than your weight?

Bending the hell out of the pole does not mean anything about vaulting high. You want to bend an ok amount and have enough spring out of the pole as possible. Overbending is #1) unsafe and dangerous #2) a result of being on too small of poles, too high a grip, or improper take off/technique. Overbending the pole is not what you want to do. Anyone can bend a pole...The sport of vaulting is getting on a longer, stiffer pole so it will shoot you up, not bending the crud out of it until it snaps...
