Frankenpit for TAKE IT AWAY (Barre, VT)

Unread postby iamchrismoran » Mon Oct 07, 2013 8:53 pm

We are getting a much lesser used, but fully compliant pit. This means our old pit must go away. If I had the space at my house, it would already be set up and I'd be excited. But I don't, so it is not.
It's made up of the original pit I jump on when I went there back in 1986-90. The condition is amazingly good for it's age, but it's not size compliany on its own. It is supplimented by an extra 3 back pieces (USA First) we got off another school that ended it's vaulting about 5 year ago. There are a few holes and they have taken on some water few times. They are currently stored away in a shed.
There's no "common" top cover. The original cover for the older pit is in place and sorts of stretched to attached to the others. A large tarp was used to weather protect it. I did say frankenpit.
There are two of the yellow box collars and a set of pads (4" tall?) for the standards.
We've been using it for 5 years and it's done a great job. It's not great and might be questionable as a HS pit, though the "common cover" aspect seemed to be workaround-able.
The densities of the old set and the new set are different, but neither has had anyone bottom out, as far as we know.
Honestly, this would make a great backyard pit if if someone didn't want to risk strict compliance. We did run it at meets and no one had any issues with it. It's total size it larger than the required size. I might be able to track down a footprint ... might.
I HATE letting it go... but that's life.

It's free for the taking. But you must take it away.
Unfortunately, the standards aren't part of the take away. The new pit we're getting has standards, but they are damaged and we'll need to repair them... who knows when. So we will need to hold on to our standards for at least the short term.

We're at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont.

let me know of your interest.
thanks,
