Re: HELP ON MOVING HANDGRIP UP AND LONGER POLES!
Lagjump wrote:HELP ON MOVING HANDGRIP UP AND LONGER POLES!
I am having problems on my Skypoles! I switched to Skypoles 15'6" as that brand was my favorite before the pole essay over ESSX 15'9". I still like Essx Poles but a ca. coach suggested these instead!
These are 15'6" poles and my grip is up.
I keep getting in the bucket position and cannot get out of it.
The poles are smooth and fit me size wise-same as my weight, but I cannot get my hips up?
The softest one really bends and I go no where, I am not able to penetrate. any suggestions.
I am holding 15' 3" right at the ring.
I can clear 16' consistently but on shorter poles 15' with a 14'9" grip on poles 5 lbs over my weight.
HELP
LAG
You aren't ready to grip that high. Go back to a shorter pole. Stiffer if you can. If you don't have a shorter pole that is stiffer, grip DOWN on the longer pole. If you are bending the pole a lot but not getting penetration - lower your grip!

I think the reason that no world-class vaulter is using an ESSX is because ESSX doesn't make carbons...yet. Regular glass poles are just too heavy at the lengths that those guys need 'em- so Pacer Carbons make more sense.

GAHHHH GRIPING ABOUT A FREAKING LABEL!?!?Dude half of us newb vaulters can not get the school to get more then 3 useful sticks...So if the label bothers you that much ship me the pole and I will draw a new label on it for you...the pole might look a few years older and be a diffrent length and maybe brand...but it will have tht new label
Nah but seriously labels are not what count unless you want to see how far up you can read them from

eh, true, but some people have preferances.. like for example i cannot stand pacers.. i refuse to jump on one, unless theres nothign elses available.. maybe because all the ones at my school are 500 years old, and iv had bad experiences w/ them, lol, but iv never jumped good on one..
What have you done today to get better?

I used to feel that way. For a long time I only jumped on Spirits. Everything else just felt wrong in my hands.
Now I have jumped on poles from every manufacturer (in the US anyway) and I feel the most important thing is that it is the right size pole for your grip and your run.

That is true Becca The best pole in the World is the one that fits you, however about the ESSX label, well we changed it again and it is HOTTER

I will try, but the poles are coming down the runway so fast it is kind of a blur.Let me see what I can do. You can see the flames are hotter. I will see if I can send it to you today
