It is worth noting that this is the only indoor facility in OZ - and only there because a sponsor was prepared to put the money up. Ironically Perth is the the only place in the country that does not really need an indoor facility!!!

Unfortunately this is very true... Help has a funny way of not going where it is needed the most.
But hopefully this facility will be a big success to the Perth team and Red Bull. Not only for the success of Parnov's squad but maybe it might help pave the way for other things in the future. Probably not another facility (though that would be amazing) but some other form of support. People/companies need to be shown that there is potential. Sadly, this may be the most difficult thing to accomplish in pole vault! One thing that Australia absolutely does not lack is technical knowledge of the event and the training methods/strategies. Unfortunately there is a very small population to draw talent from (which is already saturated with other sports) and support is scarce as well (unless you're at the very top). A little bit of support can go a very long way!
