Daegu Wild Card: Lázaro Borges
Re: In Borges We Trust.
I agree. His qualifying round looked like he was a seasoned medalist. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Lazaro Borges will make it rain, I know what you're saying Wtfisup, because you're right. If only he had more then 3 poles, someone needs to send him the 4th!

I merged the two Borges threads...

Yes his run is absolutely atrocious, but i could easily see a 5.85 jump out of him if not a 5.90 if he put everything together perfect. He had good height over everything, just seemed like he couldn't tell where the bar was.

The blue bag next to Liz-a-by-baby-in-the-tree-top's sleeping head is Borges' bag. This is an image from that meet in Jock Grim. Osenberg's runway did him right that day, even if he only had 4 poles in an unprotected bag! All of the labels looked like early 90's-era UCS labels. Somebody get this guy around the embargo!
He is ROLLING... turning it over HARD to take off outside of 4.30m from about a 17.90m (59') mid. Looked like the same tonight in Daegu if not even a little further out at the mid and turning over harder to be 4.40m+.

I heard he has a series of 5.10 poles on the way. It might be tough to ship into Cuba, but it can't be that hard to get poles to a guy competing in Europe, and I can't imagine it's that hard for a World Champs Silver Medallist to bring his poles home with him. I could be wrong though, I don't know much about Cuba!
