Actually theres a few schools that borrow poles from us, but none had sizes i needed. See heres the dealw ith our school.. All our poles are pretty old, and we actually have a decent number of them. But the sizes pretty much skip from like 140's to 180's. So we have a to of small ones, which work for our other school vaulters cuz they are all small and not very good, but the big oens we have are BIG. I was looking through our pole closet, and there were a few 15+ to 16+ poles in there, but all high weight ratings. I weigh about 165, and need a range of like 13-6-15' poles. And about selling the poles, i suggestedit to my school coach, but as usual, i was pretty much ignored. I did mention though, if i could find a good deal on a small set of poels my parent might get em, but otherwise im gonna ahve to harrass my school into it, and that didnt seem to work very well. Ex: last year- we had a guy about 190, who was a decent vaulter, but we kept sayign he needed a pole, but the school ignored us, so he ended out jumping on one of the huge ones, holding down like 3 feet fromt he top, lol.

Bummer! I'm sure everyone here can relate to your situation. Unfortunately, it is not the exception but the norm. Maybe you can work out a deal with your parents, or someone, to buy you two poles (Ask for two, settle for one. Always ask for more than you want. ;) ) and then work it off between now and the end of the school year... if you can pass mom and dad's credit check. O:-)

I can sympathize with your lack-of-poles problem. That's terrible.

Let me suggest that you try alumni vaulters? If you do some research, you might be able to find some older alumni (who now have jobs and enough $) to buy a pole or two for their alma mater. They can use the gift to the school as a tax deduction, plus they'll have a warm feeling in their heart.

Good luck.

thatd be a great idea, but my school doesnt usually have many people as into the vault as me.. its just not a big thing here in Michigan. The ones i do know are still in college, so most likely as $ challenged as me.. ;)

yeah, that is a big pole. actually i know of a high school in illinois that had one. jacob pauli's high school. one year my team borrowed some of their poles because we didnt have any high enough rated poles for my teammate at the time. we only had through 15' 170 and we borrowed a 15' 180, 15'9" 180 and 185 and a 16'1" 190. the 90 we kept in the bag just for show but he actually ended up vaulting on the other poles. they were all pacer carbons in good condition. it was too bad that my teammate broke the 15'9" 180

*sigh* i'm not looking forward to trying to get a pole this year....my coach wants to get me two poles, along with a few poles for the better guys, but i talked to the head coach, and he says there might be money for A pole or two....in my opinion, the girls need them more...our girls selection sucks, but the guys have at least 25 poles in there...heres our girls poles: 11' 100, 11'6 132, 12' 120, 12' 130, 12'4 116, 12'4 118
as you can see....not a very good selection...they bought the 11-6 for me last year, it should still be good for part of this season, but i'm prolly gonna need a stiffer one later in the season, but most likely not a longer one...as of now, the only poles i can legally use are that 11-6 132 and the 12 130 (i weigh about 126). and the 12 is too big right now because i'm only holding at about 10'10, although i did get to the end of the pole last year (well, the handgrip limit lol).

my parents might buy a pole for me though if there's a big problem with the school getting one...
