Nike Zoom PV II

Unread postby Muzgar15 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 4:44 am

I've been thinking of buying new spikes for pole vaulting and I'm wondering if there is a difference between triple jump spikes and nike's pole vault spikes. My current spikes are Adidas adiZero TJ spikes. Or do you recommend other pole vault spikes. I don't care about the brand as long there is quality.

I am no expert by any means, but several coaches have told me that the least expensive "name-brand", "on-sale" jump spikes at the time are the best for pole vaulting. My daughter 's first spikes were Adidas JumpStar Allaround. We actually bought two pairs of these. Next, she had Nike Zooms (TJ, I believe). She liked these because red and white are her school's colors. These were all very good for pole vaulting.

She was given her first pair of Nike PVIIs (also red/white ;o)) at the 2010 Nike Track Nationals, and those are what she has been using until now. She got a pair of new PVIIs for her birthday a few months ago, but she hasn't really needed them yet. The PVIIs are about half the weight of the other spikes she owns.

Thanks for the answer. I was just wondering one more thing, does the actual postition of the spikes themselves have an effect?

Most people will just say go cheep. But I really like the PVII. They are by far the most comfortable spike I have used. Either those or the nike tripple jump shoes. You want something with a heel in it for bail outs and if your stride messes up and your heel hits the ground. Unlike sprinting, you can not always keep your heel off the ground, so having a little cushion helps to keep from cracking a heel bone.
