It was raining heavily during the entire competition. My own favorite had plenty of height, but apparently had problems setting the standards correctly. I could see, that he didn't have his own coach available to him (the restriction on the amount of accredited persons for each country are hilarious).
Also noticable: Horvat, who has world leading, also had huge problems.

From what I heard, Horvat had the problem with standards before - he don't like to move them closer than 70cm (which is good). On few meets his coach was begging him to adjust on conditions and move them closer if needed. He did this once - and jumped 5.26m.

From what I heard, Horvat had problems with standards before - he don't like to keep them closer than 70cm (which is good), but when is windy, rainy, etc. you need to adjust on conditions. On few occasions his coach was begging him to move standards and once he listen him he jumped 5.26m.

Didn't see any jumps by Horvat on the live streaming. I'll check if something is uploaded to Youtube. He was one of the favorites, and was very confident prior to the final, saying 5,20m was easy for him.

OK, there might be more than one explanaton to Horvat's demise:
