Temporary Pole Tip

Unread postby ClintonMagus » Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:10 am

I recently ran across a comptitor at a meet whose pole tip had come off and was evidently lost, so she wasn't able to use her pole. Is there an acceptable method for providing a temporary pole tip?

Sounds like a great idea, unless all of your other poles are of a different diameter...

Pole tips on UCS and Gill poles will often fit one or two mandrel sizes bigger or smaller than what they say they will. Altius and Essx use soft rubber tips that fit a wider range of poles. You can use a different brand of pole tip with your pole.

If you have access to a rubber tip that is slightly too large, is it okay to build up the pole diameter with several wraps of athletic tape to make it fit?
