National Championships - German junior Hasse clears 4.40m Pole Vault

21.02.2010
Many countries had their national indoor championships this weekend, for many athletes it was the final chance to test their strength or secure qualification ahead of the World Indoor Championships in Doha next month (March 12-14).

Here is a round-up of the leading results from the member federations of European Athletics on Saturday.

Germany: Pole vaulter Carolina Hasse added five centimetres to her best when she went over 4.40m with her second attempt for a meeting record at the German junior championships in Halle. Hasse then had one unsuccessful attempt at 4.45m before having the bar raised to 4.51m and had two failures at what would have been a world junior best. Fellow German Silke Spiegelburg holds the current world junior indoor best at 4.48m, which she vaulted in 2005.

Second in Halle was Joana Kraft with 4.35m while an outstanding competition saw Victoria von Eynatten clear 4.25 m for the third place.
