First 15 footer? 16 footer?
Hey, does anyone know who the first 15-foot and 16-foot vaulters were, and what year did these happen? (preferably any time in the 1960's) Any info is helpful! Thanx!

First at 15 and 16
You have the right people, but I believe John Uelses first cleared 16" at the Melrose Games in New York. If I remember the story he actually cleared 16' in Phila at the Inquirer Games but the press rushed the pit to get a picture and knocked the bar down before it could be remeasured (back them I believe records had to be measured before and after the attempt), so Uelses went up to "The Garden" the next night (Feb 2, 1962) and did it again. At least that is the story I remember.

I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

The First 18 foot Vaulter was indeed Chris Papaniculou (Sorry Can't spell his name) But he was from Greese not Germany...
