Re: I need to buy my son a pole !
Buying a single pole is very difficult. You don't want one that's too easy to jump on, or it will be obsolete in no time. However, buying one that you can't jump on is even more frustrating. I have made both mistakes in the past, and my recommendation to you is to network with others in C.Oregon that may be willing to loan/exchange poles with you and Matt. Then he can move up as high as possible without making a purchase, before deciding which pole he really needs for next season. The main stipulation is: "you break it (or damage it), you buy it". PM me for more details, we would love to help you guys if possible. It's great to see a parent that is so committed to helping her son succeed!
By the way, if you buy the pole(s) and donate it to the school or another non-profit entity, the donation is 100% tax-deductible!

On the previous page, bel142 provided a link to a site where they rent them. It's fairly self-explanatory.

Thank you.
We have this summer covered with a great range of 14's but our school only has 1 14'6" and it's way too heavy for him. I'm going to wait until he really needs that extra 6" in find out what our coach thinks he needs. I can donate it to the school after he's moved up.

Re: I need to buy my son a pole !
Please check out our Ebay sale on 11 different poles under schild66. I am a former HS and college vaulter. My four brothers and my two older sons vaulted also, so my dad put some $$ into our equipment. They are not being used at our home anymore, and I would prefer someone make good use of them. Our starting bids are ridiculously low! We are in MD, so it may be worth it to transport them yourself for these prices.

Thanks all...going to check out your ebay sales.
So here's another Q. that's maybe gone round the block more than a few times.
Here's todays details....15 years old. 131lbs. 5' 8"/9"'s (and growing) 14' PR
Our incredible HS couach just told me this week that he is going to have the 14' 7"s covered for early next season...with a 145 and a 150 Spirit.
I don't think it'll be long before he's on 15's...we have none SO...
If I buy 15's I'd imagine he'll have them for a while. I'm not having to "match" them with existing poles so do I go fiberglass (UCS Spirit) or do I go carbon weave? I've noticed at competitions that the higher vaulters are often on carbons. Is it just a psychological thing or are they "tomorrow's technology poles?" And if you didn't have poles to worry about being consistent with what would you go with?
I'm not ready to go out shopping now obviously- just wondering what you all think of carbons vs. fiberglass if you
