Wind delays at Texas Relays

Because of blustery winds out of the west, meet officials have decided to delay the final three events of the decathlon — the pole vault, javelin and 1,500 run — until 6 p.m. today.

The “B” section of the university/college pole vault also has been delayed until 6 p.m.

The first two events of today’s five events in the decathlon, the 110 hurdles and discus, went off as scheduled starting at 11 a.m. But the pole vault had to be delayed because of safety concerns regarding the strong cross winds, so the subsequent events had to be delayed, as well.
