Day 1
Seattle, WA to Gig Harbor, WA

Day 1 of my trip was mostly packing and working. I spent most of the day getting my car loaded up, then headed up to Edmonds to officiate one last All-Comers Meet. We had a summer high of 34 pole vaulters, and everyone got to vault before the meet was over.

After the meet, all the officials head over to Romio's for pizza. Here are some pictures from pizza...

This is Jonathan. He helps me run the pole vault sometimes!

This is his little brother Gabe. The other half of that beer is in his bottle (just kidding!)

Rex! Rex works the gate at the meets all summer.

Cheyl and Jonathan

TP! TP is the starter for all of our races. After he starts the last race, he has the very important job of heading over to Romio's and ordering the pizza and beer. On that particular Wednesday, they ordered like 3 pizzas that were kinds I really liked!

Brian, our faithful leader in the absence of Bill Roe (who was in Miami for JO Nationals that day).

Tony, Jonathan, Me, and Mike Bentley, the real pole vault official ;)

After pizza I stopped by my house to pick up a few more things. I had a 15 minute visit with my sister who had just flown in from Tulsa. Then I was off! Not very far, it's only an hour and some change to Gig Harbor, but it was late at night. Mapquest got me lost, but luckily I got ahold of Zack and found his house. We finalized some directions for the trip, and I fell fast asleep on his couch.
