Four 6-Meter Vaulters In Athens GP

Athens, 30th June 2006


PRESS RELEASE


Four athletes in pole vault with performances more than 6m.

Some of the best pole vaulters in the world will come in Athens in order to participate in the Athens Super Grand Prix «Tsiklitiria - OPAP» 2006, organised by Panellinios AC next Monday in the Olympic Stadium. Four of them have broken the barrier of 6 meters.

Rens Blom from the Netherlands, the athlete who won in the Helsinki World Championship, making the surprise in the event will participate in the Athens Super Grand Prix. In the Olympic Stadium will also return the American Toby Stevenson (6m. indoor, 2004), who won the silver medal in the Athens Olympic Games.

In the event will also participate the German Tim Lobinger (6m., 1997), who was world champion in indoor athletics in 2003 in Birmingham and third in the World Champion of indoor athletics last March in Moscow, the Australian Paul Burgess (6m., 2005), as well as the Russian Igor Pavlov, who was European champion in indoor athletics in 2005 in Madrid and world champion in indoor athletics in 2004 in Budapest and Dmitriy Markov (6.05) from Australia.

From the Greek side, stands the participation of the unique Greek pole vaulter of all seasons Kostas Filippidis. Last year the champion of Panellinios AC passed 5.75m. (national record). In his 20 years of age, Filippidis is one of the biggest talents of the Greek classical athletics and in the Athens Super Grand Prix «Tsiklitiria - OPAP» 2006. Present in the event will also be the former Greek record holder Marios Evaggelou (5.62, 2004).

I interesting what will jump Kostas Filippidis and Paul Burgess , because other of athlets in this article don't presenting good form !
