Lonsway Named MWC Athlete of the Week
by Adrian Call, BYU Athletic Communications

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU senior Mandy Kelly Lonsway has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. This is her first career weekly honor.

Lonsway, an Evanston, Wyo., native, set a BYU school record in the pole vault on her way to the individual title at the Y Invitational in Provo, Utah, last weekend. Her vault of 13 feet 5.25 inches (4.10m) is the second best in MWC history and the best this season by four inches. It also currently ranks eighth in the nation.

Lonsway and her fellow field teammates will not compete this weekend but will compete at the Robison Invitational April 26-29. Members of the distance squad will be competing in Oregon Saturday. For more information about the BYU track and field program visit www.byutrack.com.
