How much higher have you jumped since you wer in HS? And more importantly, what do you think was the defining reason for the improvement?
I think that my speed on the runway, take off improvements and my core strength has gotten me my 25".

progress is not always seen in vault through heights... you got to trim the twigs from the tree so it will grow right.... I improved only .75" from HS but I feel like i was more consistant, and saw improvment in my run and pole carry... i also feel like after the first year in college vaulting i learned to take a diffrent approach toward vaulting.

I totally agree. Consistancy is huge in the vault. PRs are cool, but knowing you can show up and jump close to it 2 or 3 days a week is something else I think.

16'6" in high school holding 14' 6"
18' 1/2" in College holding 16' 0"
training environment helped a lot. Being around guys who wanted to jump high and trying to prove yourself was key. When I arrived as a freshman in college there were already two 18' jumpers there! I wanted to be the next:)

I would much rather work with 100% heart and 75% talent than 100% talent and 75% heart!

16' 1" HS
17' 3" college
I only improved by 14", but I became a much better vaulter in that time. My problem was that I didn't have a coach that knew what they how to make me a better vaulter until my senior year (no offense Swank, in case you ever read this). I was in phenominal shape, but I had no one who could relate to me on how I could improve on a technical level until my 5th year. I improved my practice PR 9" higher than my meet PR (yes it was over a bar) in my last few weeks of vaulting, but never got good meet conditions to capitalize on my improvement.
