Take advantage of the academics, go to a school that will enhance your education first, athletics second. If you are a young vaulter on this board, you are obviously a determined athlete, look for the long haul and pay attention to your education, if you want to be a good vaulter and you are educated, you will find your way. Go to school for the right reason, work hard to be a good vaulter.

Honestly...If pole vaulting is more important to you than education...go to a school for PV first. Do whatever makes you happy, youll figure things out. 99% of the really good Pv schools out there have better than average educations anyways.

Azbeachboy, I have to disagree with you, but at the same time agree with you. I'm old, on my last legs, and didn't get no fancy schoolin. If a young person on this board has a chance to receive an education at a major university or recognized learning center, without the benefit of a pole vault coach, I have to heartily encourage them. I love pole vaulting,,,,,,,, too much. I also love the kids I coach, I really would like them to take advantage of their chances on advancing their education and improving their chances of having satisifying careers. So, I will disagree here with you, these youngsters need to pick education first. I sound like my dad here. But dang it, he was right. But with web pages like this excellent one, more club vaulting and the fact old vaulters help out the new ones, I think the avenues are opening for youngsters to go to school and still follow their vaulting ambitions

I hear University of Florida has good vaulters, but yet again that might be girls? someone please correct me if im wrong.
