Lakrani Perera of Air Force did well to equal the Sri Lanka record in the pole vault event for women. She went over the bar placed at a height of 3.20 metres that was set in April this year by R.A.A. Kumarawansa.
The daughter of a barber who was educated at Holy Cross College in Gampaha was a javelin thrower in her early athletic career.
Now living in Ganemulla joined the Air Force to pursue with her athletic career.
She took to pole vault jumping only just over one year ago under coach Ruwan Pradeep and has many years of athletic career to go through. She has two elder sisters who are already married.
