Pflibsen of Streator (IL) goes 17'0

Unread postby Tincup1215 » Sat May 01, 2010 12:02 pm

Last night at the Seeger's Invite in Sycamore IL, Logan Pflibsen of Streator made 17'0. The pole vault was moved inside before the meet started due to high winds. I'm not sure if it officially counts though since the entire meet was cancelled when we had the bar at 13'0. They let us finish the vault though.

Was the pole vault completed under the normal rules of HS competition?

I'm really not sure... There were 2 lightning delays, after the 2nd delay they decided to cancel all outdoor events. The High Jump and Pole vault was already moved inside the fieldhouse at that point. Either way, I was running the vault and that kid is sick. I was running the vault and did not have anything to measure 17' with, but I did hold a 16' pole up to it (not in the box ;) ) and there looked to be a foot of room. The standards said it was at 17, the kid has already made 16'8 a couple of times this year. The height was legit.
