CHECK THE VAULT BOX before jumping

A Coaches box on the landing pit is not manditory in HS but is a great tool for coaches that need a marker on top of the pits pad to show where the vaulter is landing.

A Coaches Box at a meet is where the coaches can set close to the athletes to insure that safe instructions and safe suggestions can be advised ot the athletes, such as poles sizes, grip, standard placement. etc.

A Coaches Box could also mean a box you take to the coach that has tape measures, shots, markers and other accessories LOL

Dick Tomlinson used to say that the best place to be is as far from the pit as possible, roughly even with the box. I think he's right and that where they put the box in the Penn State video is just nuts.

They should let the vaulters cross the track to get advice from the stands. So what if they take out a few distance runners?

For those who jumped at UNIV of TEXAS the box measured 8 1/4" deep for the North side and 8" for the South side.
IN therory one would of need a stiffer pole by .5 flex number on the North side compared to a regulation box of 7.87401574803"
This would also attribute as to why a pole might bend into the pit or up against the back of the box!!!
EL Paso and Ku releys ar eon the horizon, I hope someone measures the depth of the box before they pull their poles out!!

I was at a meet last weekend, when my coach checked the standards. The zero mark on the standard's bases were 13 inch forward of true zero. The standards moved all the way back to 32 inches was actually 19 inches behind the box. For some one that sets their shandards at 24 inches, it made it hard the jump.

The question, How should I address this problem to the school I was at? It is dangerous for competitors coming to jump there and a disadvantage to their own jumpers going to other meets. It needs to be changed.
