going on vacation for a week...and we're renting, so door ledges won't work. The beams aren't low to the ground. No playground equipment, much less monkey bars. No trees either...well, at least none that can be used for any sort of drill....too small or too tall.

Sprint on the sand and practice walking on your hands.

:)
I can't even to a handstand yet...that one may take a while.
Any ideas how to start?

The number one rule of handstands: KEEP YOUR ARMS STRAIGHT

Indoors, get on your hands and knees with your butt facing the wall. Climb your feet up the wall and walk your hands toward the wall until you are upside down or until you are about to collapse. Put lots of couch cushions around you to fall on :)

When you are at the beach, practice them on the soft sand first.

If you feel yourself falling backward, look for your belly button (tuck your chin to your chest) and roll out of it.

Thanks!
They attempted to teach me in gymnastics in 2nd grade...out of a year of lessons, all I learned was a round off, cartwheel, and a bridge [from the ground up].
I couldn't do a split or back bend.

That didn't slow down this traceur! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CkroSY67_s&feature=channel_page

With a little imagination, highbars are everywhere!

Monkey bars at a kid's playground.

Pull up bar on a circuit training course (sometimes found in parks).

The supports behind a basketball backboard.

A beam on a building. (Tim McMichael used one on his school cafeteria, if I recall.)

Scaffolding at a construction site.

An old, fairly stiff pole vault pole propped between two supports.

The list is endless. Please add any others that you can think of.

You need a highbar to improve your pole vaulting technique!

Kirk

Thank goodness I,m not the only one to use an old pole as a high bar. I turned a 16ft 190 aluminum pole into a high bar.
