this past season i was 5'8'' 135 jumping on a rocket 13'
135 with really good bend and now that the season is
over i have been lifting hard for football and right now
i am 5'8'' 145(ish) and my school just got a UCS 13' 155
and i am going to take it to camp (a stretched out 4 week
camp, end of july into the beginning of august) and i will
probably start jumping on it than and hopefully get to use
it newxt season too...my coach (at the camp) also has an
array of poles that he is going to bring for me to use too
but i was just wondering what people thingk about making
a jump like that on the size of the poles...
i jumped 11'6'' on the rocket and i want to jump
13'9 . 25'' in the o6 spring season to break my schools record
what do you think about this pole switch...

sounds like my problem right now lol. my best is 11'6 and i want to break my school record of 13'4. as for your pole, its really good that you will have a lot of practice before the season begins. if you are bending that pole a lot, switching to a heavier one will probably be hard at first, but you should catch up quickly. you said the place you will be has many poles, you should really try to experiment with all of those before deciding.

i went from a 14' 175 to a 14' 185 now this was a big jump and the stiffness was extreme at first. The key to using any pole is ofcourse your technique and speed. Now if you have a strong good plant and the acceptable amount of speed the pole change shouldn't be that hard to overcome. Even if it is a 20lbs difference your gain of weight should even that out if you kept a strong plant and good speed. The best vaulters out there usually use a pole sometimes 20 or more pounds over there weight.
So if you got what it takes in the technique and speed department i say try it.
