Gang,
I have a few Gill Green Sky-Poles from the 1990's, with the black lable. On one side of the lable it says "Soft Side", on the other side is a line drawn on the pole.
It is so hard to actually see where the pre-bend is in these poles. Does anyone know which side is the soft side: "Soft Side", or the line?
Cheers,
PV-ATL

Try suspending the pole between two chairs spread out to each end of the pole. The pre-bend will be evident.

botakatobi,
I have done this. It is very hard to tell. I was hoping if there was someone out there that knew for sure if it was the line or label.
Anyone know?
Cheers,

Hang a weight in the middle when it's on the two chairs.

I had some of those -- son also vaulted on them -- now my memory is not what is used to be -- but the line you should see when checking step or with hands above head in plant position -- the soft side was the away or tension side of the pole which is backwards to what most current naming conventions said. Now most would say the soft side is the compression side. Hang the wgt the pole will seek the correct side if you just use a bend rod to hold the wgt (not clamped to the pole) -- both ends free to rotate (like resting on a hurdle gate board -- about 6" in form each end -- hang wgt (about 50 lbs) will also bend down close to your flex number-- put will seek the way it preferes to bend
Plant like crap sometimes ok most times
