Rookie Pole

Unread postby Kris » Fri Feb 24, 2012 10:58 pm

Well, i'm a pole vault rookie with only 4 weeks of pole vault practice - and i'm wondering which pole would be the best choice as we might get new poles soon.
I'm 5'8.5" weighing 130 lbs (16 year old sophomore) - and no matter how much i train and eat i seem to be unable to get bigger, so i assume ill stay this way. I currently clear 8'6 bungees on a good day at practice with my PR at a meet being 8' since my only meet so far was after 2 weeks of practice.
I will probably be able to go higher when outdoor starts as pole vault practice currently takes place in a cramped gym with old equipment.
I know very little about pole vaulting and poles, so i dont know what else you guys need to know, but any advice is helpful.

- Thank you

What poles does your school currently have? If they didn't have any, a 13'140 would be as good a pole as any to get started with. You probably wouldn't bend it for a bit, but you don't really need to start bending the pole until you can bend a 13' pole over your weight.
