Helmets anyone

Unread postby mhsvaulter » Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:53 pm

Who here wears a helmet when they vault?
--do you wear one for practice and meets, or just meets?

last year towards the end of the year I happened to find a helmet in our track shed and decided I would wear it. Others on my team gave me grief, but I didn't care. It seemed to give me a sense of safety and in a way made me feel cool

I was just wondering if anybody else wears a helmet

I wear a helmet. After two of my teammates sustained serious head injuries in one season my mom called me and asked if I would wear one. It hasn't negatively affected my vault in any way and it makes vaulting just a little bit safer. I wear it at practice and in the meets.

There is one guy who wore a helmet and was pretty good...

All HS vaulters in Minnesota are required to wear one. Other than being hot when it is warm it won't hurt you at all.
