Special Wrapping

Unread postby KJax2010 » Thu Apr 12, 2007 10:06 pm

How do the elite vaulters have their poles special wrapped. I've seen Toby Stevenson use a black carbon fx and Tommy Skipper with a green and yellow wrapping. Just wondering how they got that do. Thanks

when you reach a certain level with your jumping or you have a sweet connection that is when they will wrap the poles special for you
If you cant do it right , do if 10000 more times till you can

I think Pacer is the only company that will do that for certain people as well. I remember that they did it for me one time because we ordered a pole, and it got broke in shipping, so they sent us one completely blue!

Some people do it themselves. Vinyl tape, like electrical tape or some kinds of hockey tape works fairly well.

I'm pretty sure the tape was identified on some post on PVP, including a link to where to buy it.

Here are some examples of the gym floor tape...

I do this with all my HS poles to protect them from being spiked and dinged. It also helps to prevent someone else walking off with them.

Practice with some other kinds of tape first. It is really tricky to get it just so. The guys at the factories have a machine that turns the pole, and years of practice.

Is there anyway you can pay UCS or Gill extra money to get them wrapped cause I don't want to mess up with the gym floor tape stuff.

so we CAN wrap our poles in protective tape nearly all the way up top? There isnt a rule about doing that? My coach says i cant do that but im getting a new pole soon and i want to know if i can or cant. if i can then thats awesome!

I am pretty sure the rule states there can never be more than two layers of tape on the pole. The poles in the pictures above conform to that rule.
