I have some very good news for everyone :)

I just spoke with Pam Gosnell of customer relations at Southwest. The policy is going to be reworded to clarify their policy. Southwest will be charging $35 per container :star:

This is very good news for all of us. I am very excited that Southwest listened to our concerns and is making changes.

Anyone who was charged more than $35 each way to or from Reno, needs to send their receipts and such to:

Southwest Airlines Customer Relations
Attn: Pam Gosnell
P.O. Box 36647
Dallas, TX 75235-1647

If you have any questions, she can be reached during business hours at 214-792-5063 (She's in customer relations).

If you already sent stuff to SW and got it taken care of you are fine. If for some reason there was a problem with your refund request, give her a call.

I asked her what to do for people in the next few weeks if they encountered any problems at the airport. She suggested if the price was not outrageous, to just pay it and get the refund. If you have a problem at the airport during business hours, the airport people can call her for clarification. If it is at night or on the weekend, you might have a problem, but they will refund you any money you are overcharged.

I am really excited that this has worked out in a positive way. I plan to write some letters or emails thanking Southwest :)

I forgot to add:

If you paid with a credit or debit card, the amount will be refunded to your card.

If you paid with cash or check, you will receive a check from SW.

I flew with my poles on southwest last weekend, and had no problems at all. Neither of the people who checked me in even acted like it was unusual, just asked "you know that will be a $35 dollar charge, right?" Seems like everything has been taken care of. Thanks for all your help, Becca!
