rocket poles

Unread postby LancerVaulter07 » Fri May 12, 2006 11:22 am

ok, so is it just me or do Rocket poles generally come softer than other poles like Pacer and Pacer? cuz last year i baught a 13' 135 rocket and it seemed softer right out of the package but when i just got a new 14' 155 pacer its very stiff.... btw, it was a very similar pole switch to each of the new poles from previous poles and all acounted for... just seems like the rocket comes softer...

Check out the flex number on the rocket. That will tell you more about the pole than the weight rating. That 155 Pacer is going to feel a lot stiffer compared to the rocket. We have a pole like yours for our vault team. I was playing around with it holding at about 10'6" or so on the pole (I'm 160) and I thought ours was kind of a cool little pole. You, being in high school can't do that (jump on a pole 25 pounds under your weight) but from what I experienced I thought the Rocket was an ok pole and ours didn't feel soft at all. But then again I was holding on 2 to 2 and a half feet from the top so it would perform differently than if you're on top of it. Later.........Mike

They are a private label pole. They have been made by various manufacturers over the years. You can tell by the weight label which manufacturer made it.

The current Rockets would be similar to Skypoles.

the black and yellow striped one is a trainer pole. that i know for sure. i had one my freshman year that i used, but the regular rockets are generally black with a yellow and red "rocket" insignia about midpole...

Not all the black and yellow ones were trainers.

If it has a flex number it is not a training pole. No flex number = training pole.

Bob, it should have a prebend in it. Just lay the top across your hand with the pole end on the ground. It should roll to the soft side. That curve part of the pole should face the pit when you plant. Later..........Mike

Well I suppose it depends on how old the Skypole is. Skypole is now the name of a brand of pole, not a manufacturer.

If it has the same weight rating label as your Skypole or whatever, then it was made by the same company.
