I LOVE SPIKES!!!!! i think its partly a mental thing, but still they are awesome.
and outside if its wet, they really help prevent slipping on the runway.

yeah it sounds like i am def. getting spikes
for next season. part of the reason i didn't this
year is because i baught a pole and a new helmet
for the upcoming football season. but i vaulted
in the rain last week and i think spikes would've
helped so much

yeah i had baught myself a pair for the final 4 big meets of my sophomore season (an invitational, conference champ, county champ, and state sectional meet) and i felt the difference. you're faster, more explosive off your steps and get a better plant. i def wont vault without spikes anymore. i think i am going to look into a pair of the Reebok Global Long Jump / Pole Vault spikes for my junior season...does anyone have any comment about these spikes? used them or know anyone who has? good spikes or bad spikes? thanks

I only use spikes (normally) for meets. I practice in flats. My coach always wants us to practice in flats. I dont think they make too much of a difference to me, except for weight and the weather. But if you run right, and dont take a long last stride on rainy days and slam your foot in the ground, you dont have to worry about the rain! But i like them.
Just you wait...
