So track season officially begins next Monday for me with my first meet being about 4 weeks away. My coach told me that the funds are there for me to purchase two new poles. I'm looking for a 13'6 and a 14'6" however i'm not sure what weight i should get because right now i weigh 149 pounds, i expect to gain no more than 10lbs this season but realisticly will only gain a few more (maybe 5lbs) The 12'6" 160lb pacer i have right now i blow through completely and i am about 2.5 handgrips from the top, The pacer i'm on right now is the only pole my school has that is in my weight range, and is the tallest pole we have. I expect to move up to the 13'6" pole and eventually work onto the 14'6" depending how things go, but i am going to need these new poles asap so i can have them before the season is over, so any advice would help.
THanks,
Calvin

Re: Purchasing new poles
So wait, what other poles do you have? Type up a list of all of the poles you have 13' and longer, then we can give you better advice about what to buy.

Re: Purchasing new poles
Another question or two...
How tall are you?
How fast are you?
How good of a jumper are you?
I ask these questions because gripping say 11' 8"... what you describe as blowing through may be you jumping over the top of your grip. The poles you are suggesting are 40lbs of increase over the pole you currently have... and each one is a 20 lbs move. Doable, but a 14' 6" pole is an entirely different kettle of fish from 12' 6" pole.

Re: Purchasing new poles
If you are a normal Pole vaulter, you are in the range of 5 9 - 6 3. weighing 149lbs, blowing through a 160. To have a reasonable pole to move up to, id say buy a 13 155 or 13 160, the get a 13 6 155 if you do not already have those.
