yeah, landing on a broken pit sucks, especially hitting the hard concrete underneath.

I would much rather come down on that than bottom out on an old pit and break pallets. Ive had many a bruised back from crappy soft pits. Plus with a hard pit you can throw a double front off your warm up run-throughs. There's nothing better than making a big bar and bouncing when you hit the pit!

Yeh it aint fun landing on boards or tires or concrete or whatever someone stuck under their pit. We found squirt guns once...
anyway, We got a relativily new UCS pit (3rd year now) at my university and its already wearing out, however my back yard pit is still hard as a rock. I don't know if its a consistenty problem or not, but some of the UCS pits seem to only last 3-4 years. Now I know older pits lasted much longer... we have peices of 15+ year old pits that are still good...

My high school has the UCS HJ and PV pits from the '90 Goodwill Games and they're still going strong. Although they did have to get a new top cover last year.
