TRAINING POLES

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Sun May 02, 2010 1:09 pm

Training poles were lobbied to be banned by the NFHS because they feared that a soft vaulting pole send the vaulter out the back of the pit!
As the founder and inventor of the FiberSport Genesis training pole the pole had a statement on it to be used as a short run to eliminate such occurrences.
As time proceeded the industry further discovered that this problem occurred on poles rated under the vaulter's weight.
Additional study found that the landing systems were also responsible due to them being very short in the back portions of the landing area.
A landing zone was introduced as well as making the systems and rules for a longer back pit no smaller than 16'5" from the back of the vault box!
Seems to me less injury has been a direct result of longer landing systems and it might be time to revisit the training pole!
If we allowed a 12' length training pole no longer a person would land no farther than the back of the system.
The allowance of a training pole in this industry is needed!
I open discussion for this topic!
