Stuttgart’s Star, Schulze – IAAF World Athletics Final
Tuesday 29 August 2006
Stuttgart, Germany - He knows exactly what he wants: to get to the top of the world as a pole vaulter. Fabian Schulze is on the way to becoming a great athlete, and on 9 September 2006, the young German will get his biggest chance yet on a world - but also local - stage, as he competes in the IAAF World Athletics Final, Stuttgart, Germany (9 – 10 September 2006).
Schulze knows how it is to work eight hours a day and then go home to pick up his vaulting poles and go to training for three hours. That is his normal schedule, because he graduated as an Industrial-Electronics specialist, and manages his job as a athlete and a person, working normal hours to pay the bills like millions of other people all over the world.
But now sport is becoming more and more important. The silver medallist at the 2005 U23 European Championships has improved to a 5.81m personal best this summer, knocking on the door of world class.
"I am very consistent this year, and here (Stuttgart) are the conditions to jump the big heights.â€Â
