Nothing impressive in the pole vault, but good job to Team USA for pulling off the victory!

Arron continues comeback; Team USA win DecaNation
Sunday 27 August 2006
Paris, France - The second edition of SEAT DecaNation, a 7 nation match (the 8th team China withdrew for administrative reasons) was held on Saturday (26) at the Stade Charléty in Paris.
Each of the eight participating teams had to enter one male and one female athlete in ten events each. Team USA scored the highest mixed total with 104.5 points, while the best individual performances were set by Frenchman Ronald Pognon (100m in 10.14) and German Hammer Thrower Betty Heidler (73.97m).
The crowd favourite Pognon was looking to renew with success after his 4th place at the recent European Championships in Göteborg. The 60m European record holder, who came back from Brussels Golden League during the night, led from the start to win with a fine margin over Kaaron Conwright (10.28).
“A selection in French Team is always an honour, so in spite of fatigue, I had to run. I’m satisfied with my race, I took a good start and managed to accelerate smoothlyâ€Â

This is actually kind of retarded... the whole point of DecaNation is to do the 10 events of the decathlon with one athlete from each country in each event.
That's a shame they replaced the discus and javelin with the hammer and steeple.
And it seems like it would be more interesting is they scored it like a decathlon instead of like a team scored meet. I'll have to look back and see how it was done last year. I think this is only the second year of the event.
