Paul Burgess (pole vault): Abandoned world championships plans after straining a calf muscle. "It wasn't a bad injury, more bad timing," he says now. In full training and plans to resume competition in January.
Dmitri Markov (pole vault): Former world champion made the final in Helsinki but was hampered by a foot injury. Had surgery to remove a bone spur and clean up the joint on his return. Has resumed training and says he is running without pain for the first time in a long time.
