Interesting results. Though I'm sure everyone's pretty burnt out after the games.

1) Hooker looks like he'll be using that momentum he had going to go straight into indoor

2) Steve lewis is getting pretty consistent, for his second time ever over 5.80. I think next year he'll be over that at almost every meet.

3) That's a Greek Record, right?

"4 Konstadínos Filippídis GRE 5.80 "

That has to be the record for longest period to get from 5.70 to 5.80! Please, someone with database access confirm this.

A nice comeback of sorts for Hooker and Walker. Lavillenie is clearly best this year. The German Medalist's fell off the pace this time.

Sunday is the Women in Birmingham and a tight DL points race.

not sure the answer, but a drug ban will tend to slow down progress!

Well, he's only 25 now. He first jumped 5.70 in 2005 when he was 18. He went a little over 7 years between 5.70 and 5.80. It's impressive that he stuck with it, and through a drug ban, but I think that is easier to do in countries that offer some support to their athletes.

Give me some athletes to compare to who went a long time between 70 and 80 and I can look them up.

Toby Stevenson and Doug Fraley immediately come to mind as Usanians that took awhile to find those 10cm.

I'm also curious. How many men does that make over 5.80m all time?
