Since most American (and Canadian) vaulters think of the indoor season beginning with Reno's Pole Vault Summit (Jan 1-3), it might be a surprise to learn that Mirko Jalava's world deep list <tilastopaja.net> already lists 55 women at or above 3.70m and 30 men at or above 5.00m.
Topping the women's list is Marion Bussion of France with 4.30, but half of the 55 are American, led by Katelin Rains, in 4th place with 4.21m.
Best of the men is Renaud LaVillenie of France with 5.81m and top American is Seth Burney, in 5th place with 5.35m. France leads the country totals with 14 vaulters and USA is second with 12.
