HE'S won Olympic gold, but pole vault star Steve Hooker admits even that hasn't landed him love.
The down-to-earth champ cannot find a girlfriend. Hooker said women never approached him when he hit the town - despite being one of the most recognisable sportsmen in the country.
"I'm single at the moment," he said when asked if his love life had warmed up since Beijing.
"I never get harassed by women at all.
"I mean, I wouldn't want a stalker as that would be a little creepy."
Hooker, 26, said that training for the world championships was his priority, but he would be happy to make time for the right person.
If she can stand his singing.
Hooker plans to silence the crowd with his take on Old Time Rock 'n' Roll a la Tom Cruise in the movie Risky Business at this Saturday's Starry Starry Night ball for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation at Crown Palladium.
"I will make a fool of myself," he said.
"The crowd should expect to see me in my underwear and some very ordinary singing."
Hooker flies into Melbourne from Perth tomorrow, and will spend next week training, and fitting in wakeboarding with friends.
He'll return to Melbourne next month to spend Christmas with his family and to participate in his annual Boxing Day catch-up.
"Every year my mates and I go to the same bar, we watch the cricket and then always have an entertaining night," Hooker said.
