The Pole Vault turned into a thrilling duel between Igor Pavlov (RUS) and Oleksandr Korchmid (UKR). The Ukranian always put the pressure on Pavlov, but when Pavlov cleared the bar at 5.76m, the game was over.

Igor Pavlov wins in Gent

Igor Pavlov won the men’s pole vault clearing 5.76 meters at today’s KBC Indoor meeting in Gent.

Pavlov started at 5.46m and then cleared 5.66 at his third attempt. Followed 5.71m which Ukraine’s Aleksandr Korchmid cleared alone Pavlov passed and took the bar up to 5.76m.

In addition to Pavlov and Korchmid, another Russian Viktor Chistyakov tried to cleared the new mark, but the fortune was at Pavlov’s side who cleared 5.76 at his second.
