Jenn gets 1st World medal--silver. Great experience prior to Olympics. Between all of Isy & Stu's 4.85 jumps, I thought Jenn's 2nd was the best. Great hip height over, just not enough penetration and came down on the bar.

Pole Vault Women Final
Published on: 08 Mar 2008 21:32

Gold - Yelena ISINBAEVA, RUS
I wanted to retain my title, my main goal here was the gold, but the jump wasn't great. Everything seemed to be nice and under control, I felt that I could jump higher, I don't know what happened.

Silver - Jennifer STUCZYNSKI, USA
The competition started badly for me, I felt a little off but then things began to come together. I had a couple of great jumps and I passed on 4.80 metres as I was after the American record of 4.85 metres. It is always good to win a medal at a Championship like this.

Bronze - Fabiana MURER, BRA
To break the national record with a new National and Area record is amazing. I knew that I could compete well in the World Indoors and that I was in good shape. Now I have to go back home and work to compete well in the Olympics.

Estoy muy contenta, he hecho 4,70, nuevo record nacional y sudamericano.

Bronze - Monika PYREK, POL
It has been a very good competition and the standard has been very high. I am happy with the result although for me this is still like pre season training, I prefer to have a more relaxed winter and save myself for the summer because it is going to be a long year. I still have a lot of work ahead of me.

Evidently Hooker hasn't had a haircut since the last time I saw him. :D

They just showed Evgeniy Lukyanenko's 1st attempt miss at 5.85m. A young russian not using the petrov method? Blasphemy???
