Final standings:

Code: Select all

2    PYREK, Monika        POL   4.75   =PB
3    FEOFANOVA, Svetlana  RUS   4.70   SB
4    POLNOVA, Tatyana     RUS   4.50
4    HOWE, Kym            AUS   4.50
6    SCHWARTZ, Jillian    USA   4.50   =SB
7    MURER, Fabiana       BRA   4.40

9    SAUER, Mary          USA   4.40
10   SPIEGELBURG, Silke   GER   4.30
     ELLIS, Dana          CAN   -

I sure wish we could get the scoresheet.

From Petrov on Sunday:
- What result did you anticipate for Paris?

- She is not yet prepared to accurately bomb the records. We thought about heights on the order of 4.90 or a little higher. She’s ready for that, since she took 4.92 in training.

I guess he knows what he's talking about. :)

Scoring line reconstruction

Going back over your comments Becca, and mine and Eurosport's, I've tried to reconstruct the jump progression for the top three. Here's what I've got:

Code: Select all

            ???  460  470  475  479  48?  490  502

ISINBAYEVA  -    o    x-   x-   o    -    xxo  xxx

PYREK       ...  xxo  xo   xo   x-   xx  <==?

FEOFANOVA   ...  o    o    xx-  x   <==?

Since Isi opened at 4.61 on Saturday in Paris (although she blew her first attempt), I expect 4.60 was her opener today. But I imagine Pyrek and Feofanova opened lower â€â€

Russian TV & print reports on Lausanne

Unread postby BruceFlorman » Fri Jul 14, 2006 10:08 pm

There’s nothing terribly new or noteworthy in this RTR-sport report of Lausanne, but there’s some video of Isi’s 4.90 clearance.

The world and Olympic pole vault champion, Yelena Isinbaeva displayed the world’s best result of the season in the stage of the International Association of Athletic Federations "Super Grand Prix" series in Lausanne – 4 meters 90 cm. The Polish woman Monica Pyrek occupied second place – 4 m 75 cm, and third – yet another representative of Russia, Svetlana Feofanova – 4.70.

As noted the world record holder Isinbaeva, “My entire July appearance schedule is subordinated to preparation for the August Championship of Europe in Göteborg.â€Â
